Please join us to hear Melanie Wilson, Executive Director Chatham-Savannah Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) discuss how the critical issue of rising sea levels and flooding in the low country is affecting land development.

The MPC is the bridge between Chatham County, metropolitan Savannah, and the neighboring low-country communities. They work with the governmental partners at all levels to responsibly balance growth and development while preserving the area’s unique natural and historic treasures. Through collaboration and uniting urban planning, development, transportation, zoning, historic preservation, and natural resource planning, their motto is: Planning the Future, Respecting the Past.

Melanie Wilson has over 30 years of experience in land use, environmental, and strategic planning often requiring bridging boundaries between multiple jurisdictions, organizations, and socio-economic groups. Her work has involved mediating conflicting relationships among these entities and building capacity where none existed.

Vaccinated Hamiltons and Abigails members and guests attending in-person, will be asked to show proof of vaccination (either a card or a photo of your card on your phone). In addition, masks will be optional throughout the meeting. For those who are not vaccinated or unable to attend for any other reason, we are offering an option of participating by Zoom.
