What’s at Stake?

In this 2020 election? Plenty! WAG (Women Advocating for Georgians, the Abigails advocacy group) presents a pre-election primer to help us understand better just how the results of this election will shape the lives of Americans dealing with healthcare, the unprecedented pandemic, racial justice, the right and opportunity to vote – and democracy itself.

The program will be led by Aunna Dennis, Executive Director of Common Cause Georgia, a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to “Putting Power Back in the Hands of Georgians.” Common Cause uses coalition building, lobbying, litigation, grassroots organizing, research, and policy development to inform voters and hold public officials accountable and responsive to the citizens of Georgia.

Before bringing her expertise in elections mobilization, issues advocacy, and voting rights to Common Cause, Aunna Dennis was Senior National Coordinator for the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under the Law, focusing particularly on developing election protection organizations in key states. Prior to that she worked as an Election Trainer with the Montgomery County (MD) Board of Elections, as well as non-profits and governmental bodies, such as Rock the Vote, SEIU, The Whitehouse Project, Vote Run Lead, and the Georgia General Assembly. A native of Atlanta, she earned her B.A. in Political Science at Hollins University.

In addition to Aunna’s presentation, WAG representatives will outline the platforms and positions of candidates in major Georgia races.

The Skidaway Abigails invite Skidaway Hamiltons members to join them for this timely online event. A signup link will be posted below when registration opens.
