Aging…Everybody’s doing it!
Patti Lyons, President/CEO, Senior Citizens, Inc.
Patti will discuss the demographics and economics of aging in the US and in our community. She will address the four columns of successful aging and the resources available to support that effort, particularly the unique and innovative work of Senior Citizens, Inc. (SCI), a nonprofit organization that was born 63 years ago in Savannah. SCI serves more than 10,000 seniors each year in Chatham, Bryan, Effingham, and Liberty counties. SCI is also the home of The Learning Center, which provides classes for seniors on a wide range of topics.
Bio:
Patti Lyons is the President and CEO of Senior Citizens, Inc. (SCI), a non-profit organization whose mission is to help people age successfully. Patti is a proud alumna of the University of Tennessee. She previously held posts in Nashville and Fort Worth before joining SCI as President in 1997. She has authored several articles for various publications on aging at home. She is the current chair of the national board of directors for Meals on Wheels America, serves as a Governor-appointed member and current chair of the Georgia Council on Aging. She is also a lifetime Girl Scout, a First Class Scout, and continues to serve the Girl Scout Council of Historic Georgia in various leadership capacities as well as several other local charities. In September, Patti attended the White House Conference on Hunger and Nutrition and she has been recognized by the Georgia General Assembly for Distinguished Service to the State of Georgia.
