All members of the Skidaway Hamiltons are invited to our meeting on Wednesday, May 20th at 4 PM to hear Dr. Lawton Davis, the Director of the Costal Health Districtdiscuss the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic in Georgia, with a specific focus on Chatham county and Skidaway Island.
The mission of the Coastal Health District and the County Boards of Health in Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, and McIntosh counties, is to improve the health of those who live, work, and play in those counties by preventing disease, injury and disability; promoting health and well-being; and preparing for and responding to disasters. As such, they are responsible for free COVID-19 testing and contact tracing in the 8-county region.
The meeting will be conducted using Zoom, and, for security reasons, registration/RSVP is required for ALL attendees. If you plan to attend, please use the link below to register/RSVP. The number of attendees is limited, so to guarantee your spot, please respond as soon as you can. Once your RSVP has been received and processed, we’ll email you the URL for the Zoom meeting, along with all necessary instructions. As is our customary practice, we’ve invited the Skidaway Abigails to this meeting and are also requesting that they RSVP. Please note, however, that we request that you submit only a single RSVP from each household, if participants can share a “screen”. This will allow more people to participate in this important presentation. For security reasons, please do not forward this email. Attendance is limited to Hamiltons and Abigail’s and their family members.
We have suggested to Dr. Davis the following topic:
Given that the majority of The Landings population is “high risk” and that we have two extended care facilities on Skidaway, exacerbating the risk, what should we be worrying about. For example:
- Should we be taking additional precautionsover those recommended for the general GA population?
- How worried should we be about the capacity of local hospitals and docs and the availability of PPE and respirators?
- There have been reports of cases on Skidaway Island. Can you tell us how many cases have been diagnosed on the Island, and have there been any deaths? And also how many people on the Island have been tested?
- Should we be getting the serum anti-body test for immunity?
- Are the Club’s precautions sufficient?
- Are local doctors prepared to deal with a surge outside of the hospital?
