Online: The Filibuster- Its Past, Its Present, and Its Future
Please join us on Tuesday, October 20 at 4:00 PM for a Zoom meeting with Dr. Bruce Mallard, assistant professor of political science at Savannah State University.
Dr. Mallard will examine the Senatorial procedure called the filibuster, examining its history, procedural requirements, and evolution over time. The underlying question to this discussion, and in public discourse currently, is whether the filibuster has outlived its usefulness and should be abolished or if there is a compelling reason to continue it.
Dr. Bruce Mallard is an assistant professor of political science and public affairs at Savannah State University. He holds a BA degree in political science from George Peabody College, a MPA degree in Public Administration from Middle Tennessee State University, and a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Tennessee. He taught for many years at Tennessee State University in Nashville.
