THE OPIOID CRISIS AND FENTANYL

Director Sarhatt will speak about the local and national opioid crisis, with a particular emphasis on the extreme dangers posed by the synthetic opioid Fentanyl.  He will also talk about the CNT’s overall response to this epidemic.  Director Sarhatt has had an exceptional career, working for over 30 years at the DEA.  He served 13 years as a DEA agent.  He worked for three years as a training instructor at DEA headquarters in Quantico, VA responsible for all aspects of DEA training, including undercover activities.  He led investigations of major narcotics offenses at the DEA Savannah Resident Office for ten years.  He was Resident Agent in charge of the DEA Knoxville office.  He has been Director of the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team since 2019, overseeing a department of 50 individuals from 7 different local and county agencies in Enforcement and Intelligence.  This is a unique opportunity to hear from an expert on the most deadly drug epidemic in our nation’s history.
